I began taking classes from Christy at The Fixx nearly four years ago. I was out of shape, had one child still in diapers, and was unhappy with my weight. From the start, Christy connected with me on a personal level. She got to know who I was and what my goals for my physical health were (to lose a little weight, get stronger, and have more energy to chase my kids around.) One thing you’ll notice about Christy right away, is that she is energetic and fun; she makes each workout unique and as well as each exercise. The result, is personal training within a class.
Christy as a trainer, is also, tough, yet kind – she makes me (and everyone else) do the workouts that I know I should do; but would never push myself to do on my own. All while being personable, genuine, and again- always fun. She gets to know each of her clients and then truly tailors the class so each person is pushing his/her own limits; but at the level that is right for that person. My weights may be heavier or lighter than someone else’s, or I may do a different variation of a move than others; all depending on my level of fitness. That said, there is no competition between people in class, either. We are each doing what makes sense for our body, our fitness level, and our goals. Christy encourages just that.
Since joining The Fixx, I have lost 25 pounds, taken up running (including half marathons and the Tough Mudder), and am stronger than I was in my 20’s!
I also still look forward to the challenges Christy has for me, each time I step into the gym. The energy and friendliness from the entire staff as well as the clientele at The Fixx cannot be beat; nor ever will! There is definitely a camaraderie amongst trainers and clients, and it makes the experience of working out at The Fixx that much richer.

I have been training with Cassie for four months, and I couldn’t be happier with the results she’s helped me achieve! She’s very supportive, but she definitely pushes me to my limits during the workouts. Cassie does a great job of keeping the workouts interesting (I don’t think I’ve ever done the same workout twice), and she’s fantastic at adapting the workouts to my fitness level and goals. Finally, she’s been extremely flexible in adapting to my crazy work schedule. I highly recommend Cassie to anyone who’s looking for a fun and effective trainer to help them reach their fitness goals!

I hired Jan as my personal trainer, right after I hit the big 5-0; and wanted to get into better shape. I had always worked out, but felt I wasn’t doing enough to challenge myself and get whole-body strong. Also, physical issues (osteoarthritis) were slowing me down.
Jan has brought an incredible depth of knowledge, to my workouts, based on her own athletic training and achievements; alone. She is very personable and able to work with a variety of people. Her intelligence in wellness studies combined with her own training, really shows in all of her adaptations for each clients’ needs.
Jan should be your trainer, if you’ve been looking for a coach dedicated to your results; but who is also quick, attentive, tough-yet-gentle, and a great model for fitness. I know, Jan, can work with anyone. I’ve personally seen the beginning, progress, and results achieved in many of her clients; including youth soccer players and clients well over 60 years of age. She may be a hard core athlete, herself, but she also understands that middle aged people (in particular) are usually looking to (begin) just by getting into shape.
Take it from me, working with Jan has been and is still to this day, priceless. While, I am continuing to work on everything, particularly balance; I am stronger and in better shape than I was in my thirties. Her training has absolutely encouraged me to live an overall healthier life, and to continue pushing myself to be better physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

I have been working regularly at the Fixx for several years with Mike O’Malley as my personal trainer on a bi-weekly basis and because of my enthusiasm; my husband is now also a client of Mike’s.
Mike has been instrumental in helping us both recognize the importance of regular exercise; emphasizing both cardiovascular fitness as well as strength training. Mike is an unfailing advocate for people with weight issues and is very knowledgeable about exercise physiology, nutrition and the fundamentals of keeping a positive attitude. Mike provides sound personal exercise routines individually for us and while offering consistent advise, Mike has made significant contributions to our overall health and well-being.
Mike is able to convey knowledge and information positively, often sharing his own experiences. We have both found Mike to be an intelligent, helpful, very sincere, and competent Personal Trainer.
But our highest praise must be reserved for Mike’s relationships with his clients. Positive and optimistic with a great sense of humor, Mike offers hope and gives us confidence in our ability to meet our exercise and fitness goals. We look forward to our training sessions each week and consider Mike to be one of our favorite people and dear friend.

I have worked with Todd for a few years. It amazes me the services he offers at the Fixx continue to stay fresh. I continue to learn even though I’ve been coming here for years. It’s great to have the accountability of personal training appointments and also have a nice mix of classes. The education I get along the way is much more than I expected and it continues to keep me motivated. Today, I am much more healthy and fit.

I have been training twice weekly with Evan for more than 4 years. Evan is am exceptional trainer. He develops programs tailored to my individual needs and goals. There is tremendous variety in what we do and he challenges me and pushes just the right amount.
I have worked with trainers in the past who have just used generic programs that got very boring. Also, it wasn’t clear whether or not I was making progress.
Evan keeps a written record of each session which he shares with me. I know when I have improved in strength and or coordination. I always feel better after a session than I did coming in. In addition, Evan is very knowledgable about the body.
I had knee surgery a couple of years ago. I worked with him both pre and post surgery and had a quick recovery. I never needed to go to a physical therapist!-Deborah Denz
I have only been to The Fixx twice so far, and I know that I will be back for more! Working with Tom Alcivar in a small group setting has been a great experience. He is extremely knowledgeable, creative and motivating. He pushes me much further than I would on my own. The studio space is comfortable and has a more personal feel than a typical workout facility. They have some equipment that I have never seen or used before, which helps keep it fresh. And the showers are great!

When I moved back to the Twin Cities after grad school, I was looking for a tough workout that could help me maintain my strength and attain my fitness goals. I was so excited when I found out that Christy’s “Bootcamps” at the Fixx on Sunday mornings and Tuesday nights were in my neighborhood in Linden Hills.
As a certified athletic trainer, I find her workouts to be challenging, but effective for increasing agility and strength.
Also, as a Physical Therapist, I find Christy to be highly knowledgeable at modifications for ALL (really, all) fitness levels. Injured or able, fit or a beginner, Christy is able to meet you at your level; even in a class with a variety of levels
The best part of working out at the Fixx is I can always expect something new and different. No two workouts are identical, which make it fresh and fun every time.
-Liz Hines, 27 yrs., Doctor of Physical Therapy, ATC, TCRG Irish Dance Instructor
Before I met Cassie, most of my working out consisted of running and other cardio activities. After trying one boot camp class at the Fixx, I was hooked! I started training with Cassie two mornings a week, and since then I have seen unprecedented results. Cassie has an amazing way of pushing me, without making me feel frustrated or demotivated when it gets hard. She takes the time to get to know her clients and understand what truly motivates them to work hard, which is different for everyone. After working with Cassie, I feel so much stronger and more energetic in every day life, in big ways and small ways. I could never get these types of results on my own. And even though I am putting in less miles, my running times are better than ever!
Most importantly, Cassie is understanding and empathetic to the people that she works with, with never-ending patience and a willingness to be flexible with changing schedules. Now I can’t imagine what life was like before training with Cassie – I hope I never have to go back!

I decided to start working out with with a trainer because I felt stuck in the same work out routines that weren’t getting me where I wanted to be. I had finally realized that I hated going to the gym because I didn’t know how to make it fun, interesting, or worthwhile for myself. I met Jan when she became my marathon training coach, through Team In Training; The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Endurance Sports Training Program. From that experience, I knew my goals outside of running; were more then achievable with a coach, friend, and personal trainer like Jan; and I have been working with her ever since.
Jan is a quiet motivator. She is not the kind of trainer that is going to jump up and down and yell to get you motivated. Instead, she slightly pushes you each week until you are doing things you never thought you could do, and lifting more weight than ever before. Jan is also great about giving compliments when you are doing things well, instead of calling you out when you are doing something wrong. Her style, as a trainer, is both laid back and focused. She makes accommodations in exercises and scheduling apart of the plan. Whether you’re trying to stay fit during your pregnancy, lose weight, train for an event, or get in shape for a wedding; Jan takes on your goal and makes it her focus during each session.
Because of Jan, I have a significant increase in my self confidence, in my athletic abilities, and just in being a woman. Jan worked with me, to keep me in shape during my pregnancy. As a result, 6 weeks after my daughter was born, I was back to working out and running. I would not have been able to maintain my weight without Jan’s constant encouragement and support.
Thank-you, Jan!

The Fixx is a really wonderful place to work out. It is a well appointed, dare I say comfortable, workout studio with a dizzying array of equipment (or trauma tools, to the uninitiated) . The treadmill nook is really cool, but I learned one doesn’t need a row of cardio equipment to really exercise. The difference between working out at a fitness club and in a class or with a trainer at the Fixx is cavernous. I found my perfect storm for fitness by combining the Fixx’s awesome environment with an amazingly talented trainer/teacher (Tom Alcivar).
-Steve H.
I started working with Todd a few months ago. I was referred from a friend who has worked with him for several years. My goals are to increase my fitness. That came easy as we focused on improving how I move. I learned that as I improve how I move, I become more efficient, which helps me reach my goals more efficiently. Todd has also started to work with me in regards to my eating. He is a nutritionist and I feel I have got a nice two-for-one experience working with a nutritionist and a personal trainer. I also have referred both my parents to him, and surprising, they are actually loving it!
-Caroline K, Nurse Practitioner
I look forward to group training with Evan every week. Each workout is unique and focused and I always have strong sense of well-being when I leave. My improved fitness, strength, and mobility impacts every aspect of my life positively

I started training at The Fixx three years ago. It was by accident that I stumbled across this gym, and I am glad that I did! I had always been active, biking, running, playing tennis; but I was ready to take my fitness to the next level. I began going to The Fixx’s Bootcamp classes, and instantly understood why this gym was different from all others. Christy Dalton, Owner and Trainer, was instructing the class and not only introduced to me to many new exercises I had never tried nor seen, but also made sure that I had the correct form and knowledge as to why each exercise should be executed a particular way.
Since, I started at The Fixx, I have tried and love many of the available classes including: Bootcamp, Cardio, and Mobility/Stretching. What I love most, about The Fixx, is that each trainer is highly educated, and that they are able to best personalize any exercise to fit your needs. Since I attend boot camp three times a week, I also love that each class is different and likewise targets multiple muscle groups. From which, I keep improving and both seeing/feeling more and more results.
I am the type of person who needs to be pushed to really give my all, and all of the trainers do that at The Fixx. They know and understand just how hard to push each person to achieve all of his or her’s goals. Christy, is also great in giving advice about nutrition and daily living to help you achieve even your most personal goals. Since joining The Fixx, I have had more energy, and my arms, legs, and abs (especially) are all more toned. I also, most importantly, just feel better about myself!
Joining The Fixx was the best decision I could have made for my overall health. I feel great, (today and everyday) and I have made lifelong friends through the classes I attend.

Training with Cassia at The Fixx has been a brilliant investment. Cassia is incredibly talented, motivating, positive, creative, … and an absolute drill sergeant! We have seen dramatic fitness gains in just three short months – core strength, definition, agility and mental clarity. Our training sessions with Cassia have become a foundation to our overall health. She is simply the best.

I did fitness classes for years but as soon as I started training with Evan, I realized how little I had gotten out of all those other workouts. Whatever your age or athletic ability, if you truly want to significantly change your fitness level, Evan is the trainer for you. He has a keen ability to assess your strengths and weaknesses and target specific workouts to address your goals. Every workout is challenging, but also geared to your specific needs. His knowledge, expertise, creativity, ability to communicate and sense of humor distinguish him from the majority of trainers in this area. I highly recommend him

My workout philosophy is work hard and play hard. The Fixx offers just that! I found a new gym with trainers that challenged me mentally and physically. I would have never thought this seemingly innocent attractive gym could teach me how to sweat hard, workout smarter and even exersice through hip hop dance. When I first started at the Fixx my goals were simply to improve my triathlon performances. I now have a better understanding for how to do that while enhancing my all around physical wellness.
-Laura S.
The kind of service I want when I go to a workout/training facility is experts who know what they are doing, personalized training, and encouragement to meet my goals. The environment I expect is one that is clean, calm, has enough space for movement and contains a variety of state-of-the-art equipment. Finally, the cost needs to be affordable. At the Fixx, I have found it all. For the past year, I have been working with Tom Alcivar, one of the highly skilled Certified Personal Trainers at the Fixx. He has continuously gone above and beyond to train me and develop a program that meets my fitness needs. The workout facility is excellent. I love going there. And the cost is right on. The clients who first walk into the Fixx, keep on coming back, and that probably is the strongest endorsement – I know that I will.

I was referred to Todd from a friend and client of his. I’ve worked in small groups, taken classes at The Fixx, and also do personal training with Todd. After three years, I’m still amazed that every workout is different. I never known what to expect, although I can rely on a quality workout and I never can get away without learning something new. It’s always a little scary when you first start working with a trainer, but I think it would be more scary to stop. I live in the neighborhood and I really enjoy the convenience and even the chance to walk to my workouts a couple times a week.
-Mardi L, Owner of a Marketing/Advertising Firm, Mother of Two
After having done P90X for a year or so at home, I decided that I’d like to try a more personalized workout program. A friend recommended I join a free Tuesday night workout to see what The Fixx was all about. I’ll admit I was a bit nervous having never been to a work out studio, but it turned out to be a great decision. The Fixx workouts that I’ve done have easily been the toughest workouts, and as a result I’m seeing more muscle gain and fat loss.
Christy is an amazing trainer. She’s always available to check your form or explain an exercise you don’t quite understand. The work outs that she comes up with are fresh and exciting, and they will make you sore. The environment isn’t judgmental at all, and the facility has plenty of room and equipment for a wide variety of exercises.
I’d recommend The Fixx to anyone who really wants to work, see change, and be healthier as a result. The Tuesday and Thursday night boot camps are tough, but if you push yourself you’re going to see results.

I’ve been training with Cassia and generally at the Fixx for about a year plus now. I’m a 42 year old university professor in Minneapolis and my work has me traveling, often overseas to conferences, quite a lot. When I’m in town, I try to get a bootcamp workout out at the Fixx as often as I can, roughly about 3 times a week. There are many things that I love about the Fixx, but the top-three are a) no two workouts are ever the same, b) Cassia, Christy and all the trainers in there know how to encourage their clients to push themselves way beyond what I would do on my own, and c) the really emphasize working the whole body, not just the upper or lower or the front-side or back-side. It has resulted in much higher energy levels and concentration for me. After my family, the Fixx is what I miss the most about Minneapolis when I’m traveling.
-Ravi Bapna, Age 42, Professor
I have been coming to the Fixx for a few years. I come with my wife and we do training together twice a week. It is our time during the week to get away from life. We really enjoy training together with Todd at the Fixx. The environment is simple and comfortable. I never felt intimidated. The intensity of the workout always seems like just the right amount. I haven’t taken any classes due to my schedule, but my wife has and she really likes them.

I started training with Christy Dalton 5 plus years ago to get in shape for a trip to Cancun. Prior to the Fixx opening, Christy came to my house twice weekly for personal training. I love how she pushes me beyond what I think I am capable of enduring. Every workout session is different, you never know what Christy is going to make you do. She has made my whole body so much stronger and toned! When I’ve hurt myself with outside injuries, Christy tailors the workout to accommodate my injuries and get me better and back, fastest.
I’ve noticed during the workout sessions with the group of people that train at The Fixx, that Christy modifies the workout to each individual’s capabilities. Christy will always find your strengths and your weakness and will build on strengthening and correcting imbalances, as well as the hindering weaknesses. Her workout sessions include a variety of exercises both indoor and outdoor. Examples of activities/types of exercise: running, skipping, back peddling up and down a hill with weights on your body, (strength, stamina, speed, and agility training), throwing medicine balls and jumping/stepping up onto a box or Bosu (plyometrics), weight lifting/resistance training (using free-weights, sand bags, clubs, TRX, and bands), core training employing physical therapy, balancing on an exercise ball/corrective training, a lot of sport specific functional movement, contact boxing/kickboxing, Russian Kettlebell, cardio conditioning, whole body stretch/breathing using special acquired techniques (AIS and foam rolling), and the list goes on.
I’ve never been bored during Christy’s workout sessions because of the wide variety of exercises and knowledge she teaches and puts forth upon all of us. I travel all the way from Apple Valley to South Minneapolis to train with Christy because her and her workouts are so fantastic!! I could go to any other place near my house, but I choose to go to Christy, because she makes each and everyone feel important and ‘she’ works! I feel the Fixx is like a second family!
– Christine O’Keefe, Busy mom and Nurse
I travel quite a bit, so when I’m in town, I don’t have time for frills. I need a quality workout that suits me. I’ve been referred to Todd from other family members that have worked with him at the Fixx. My experience has been great. He has helped not only get me toned up for events, such as my daughter’s wedding, but also has provided me invaluable information on nutrition and eating. He has also worked with other friends of mine who have had more serious health challenges and how they have tuned around seems nothing short of amazing.
